Those who cannot hear are more dependent than anyone else on visual communication of information, emotions, and impressions. That is why the new school library at Mramba Primary School in the Tanzanian city of Mwanga is such a special asset for the deaf pupils there: it greatly facilitates their access to language, knowledge, and independent learning.

The library has been equipped with tables, chairs, and shelves, and of course with textbooks for all grades as well as children's and young adult literature. The light-filled room with its many beautiful wall decorations is a feel-good place that invites all the girls and boys at Mramba School to learn and browse.

This will be followed by a four-month integrative reading promotion project. Teachers will receive further training, reading clubs will be established, and reading games and competitions will be organized. This will promote reading comprehension and lay a good foundation for further education.

Mramba Primary School is one of the few schools in Tanzania that teaches children and young people with hearing impairments. Of the approximately 650 pupils, 84 are currently in classes for the deaf. We would like to thank Fil Bros. Family Office for their wonderful and generous support!
