Solar technology makes it possible: the new copier keeps going and going

A school without electricity? Without printers and copiers? In Germany, this is unthinkable, but in Tanzania, it is unfortunately often a reality. This was also the case at Losirway Secondary School in Arusha. Until PROBONO, with the active support of Tanzania AG at Schloss Hansenberg boarding school, was able to install a solar power system there and purchase a high-performance printer and copier. Four solar panels were mounted on the school roof, an inverter, charge controller, and batteries were installed—and the printer has been running ever since. The teachers at Losirway School were delighted: now they no longer have to make the long journey into town to print out teaching materials or tests at a copy shop. Having a printer and copier at the school not only saves time, but also money, as copies and printouts at the copy shop were expensive. Many thanks to the Tanzania AG of the German partner school, the Schloss Hansenberg boarding school in Geisenheim, which supported the project with numerous fundraising campaigns. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Naturstrom AG and the Apfelbaum Foundation for their financial support.
