Thanks to the generous support of the Reiner Meutsch Fly & Help Foundation and the Steffens family, Mramba Primary School in Mwanga has made significant progress in early childhood education. The school is delighted to have a new classroom specifically for deaf preschool children, the renovation of an existing preschool classroom, and new equipment for the youngest children.

The number of pupils at the state primary school in the Kilimanjaro region is rising, partly because the population in the area is growing. Currently, 692 children are being taught at Mramba Primary School, 68 of whom are in the preschool class. It is particularly noteworthy that the school is one of the few in Tanzania that also integrates deaf children.

Until now, lessons for hearing and non-hearing preschool children took place in a single room that was in dire need of renovation. This room was not adapted to the needs of preschool children, especially deaf children. As part of the project, we built a new classroom specifically for deaf children. The room was equipped with a blackboard, school desks, mattresses, and educational learning materials. In addition, child-friendly school toilets were built. At the same time, another classroom was renovated to accommodate the growing number of other preschool children. The classroom was given a new roof and windows, a veranda, a fresh coat of paint, and new furniture. The renovation and new construction have contributed to significantly improving the learning conditions for the preschool children. Thank you very much for your support!
