World Food Day, which takes place every year on October 16 to draw attention to persistent hunger and widespread malnutrition in many countries, is also a call to action for PROBONO. Malnutrition remains a problem in our project countries in East Africa. It weakens children and young people and hinders their development.

One approach to combating this is ecological school gardens: They ensure healthier and more balanced school meals. At the same time, they open up interesting future prospects for the students by teaching them theoretical and practical ecological gardening skills at school. The girls and boys work with great enthusiasm in the school garden clubs. They not only learn how to improve plant health and combat pests with organic pesticides. They also learn how to process the garden's produce in a way that adds value and thus achieves higher sales revenues. For example, by making tomato sauce and jam.
