PROBONO supports schools in East Africa - help us with your donation!

Since 2004 PROBONO has been supporting education in East Africa facilitated through partnerships between schools in Germany and schools in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenia.

Together with thousands of students in the PROBONO partnership network we are committed to:

  • sustainable poverty reduction
  • improving living and learning conditions at African schools
  • intercultural dialog and exchange between children and youth from Germany and East Africa
  • Global Learning and enhancing social competencies of students in North and South

In this way, the Federal President honors the commitment of our Chairwoman Andrea Alleker-Fendel to education and sustainable development in East Africa, as well as to global learning and social engagement at the partner schools in Germany. It is an award that emphasizes the importance of our projects and honors and strengthens us at PROBONO.

matters!

What do you need to run a school? Of course you require school books and classrooms, but the qualifications and educational skills of the teachers are just as important for successful learning. If teachers are poorly qualified, students cannot learn well. Support our teacher training programme in Tanzania!

One focus of PROBONO's work in East Africa is child protection. We want to strengthen children's rights and child protection and protect students from violence and abuse.

Schoolbooks & teaching materials

... are the basis for successful learning. However, many African schools lack even the most basic resources. In Tanzania, on average eight children share one schoolbook. Sometimes the entire class has to work with one book, which is often outdated. Donate now for schoolbooks in East Africa!

Promoting reading is a key to successful learning. Many statistics show that children with good reading skills achieve higher educational qualifications and higher incomes on average. Girls will marry later and live healthier lives with their families.

Why North-South school partnerships?

School partnerships between the North and the South bring together children and youths from completely different cultural environments. Our vision of "One World" becomes reality as we come together, transcending borders between richer and poorer countries and overcome differences in culture, religion, education and tradition.
